Portfolio

This is the portfolio I have emailed to a few of my design heroes to ask for some feedback on.

I sent my portfolio off to a number of design agencies that I think might be interesting to talk to and learn more about their area of design.
The design studios I emailed included a lot of motion graphics studios and I'm not sure whether my portfolio is actually that suitable to send to them. I think they're probably used to looking at show reels, and my portfolio only really shows them the layout of the frames rather than the actual movement.

Studios I emailed include:
Atticus finch, Agile Films, Sherbet, Headgear, Aardman, Pixelgarten, Prologue

With the case of Pixelgarten, I really love their stuff but I just haven;t produced any work that relates to what they're doing for so long. Being on a course that requires lots of ideas quick decision making and varieties of work, I don't feel comfortable that I have enough time to produce 3D craft to a good standard and truly believe it's the best solution to the problem.

Warning: if you don't want to sit cringing in your seat watch this video on mute. Anyway it gives some sort of idea of how I want to make my business card. i.e the folding, not the crabs

Really like these colours, they're quite quirky

I quite like the illustrative side one side, with just a bit of information with the rest on the back. The selective colours make the front and back compliment eachother.

I really like the way the card interacts with it's holder, and the fact it doesn't matter whether it is pulled out or not because all the details are already seen.

Again I like that some of the card is revealed and it's interaction between the holder.

Some drafts for business cards, I really struggled with this but am starting to progress in a direction that I'm a bit happier with.

Some initial ideas for compliment slips:

projection animation test from reanimatr on Vimeo.

This animation works really well in co-ordination with the sound. The structure of the movement of the characters is quite simple, but the combination of all the different figures and the sound is really effective. I'd really like to try and produce something like this myself.
